Personality: Jade is a complex character. He is highly intelligent and gifted, yet he dislikes imparting knowledge unto others, as stated at several points within the game. He has a sarcastic attitude concerning almost everything, and doesn't seem to really care for others, but he does actually hold a great deal of concern for those that are close to him, such as a growing affection for Luke that shows in the latter third of the game.
As sarcastic and nonserious Jade is, he is most like what one could call a "realist". He will tell you exactly what's going on, no matter how harsh it may be to hear. He will say when a solution to a problem is foolish. Jade is also a bit of a joker, and will try his best to make light of the situation at hand, despite his sometimes... sick humor. (EX: Near the beginning, when Jade arrests Luke and Tear, he says, "Don't worry, we won't kill them... Assuming they don't resist. Be good, kids~") One could even say he has a bit of a childish side.
Strengths:
Physical: As Jade is a soldier, his body is in quite good shape, despite his increasing age. Despite what he claims otherwise, he can compete with the best of them, as seen in his combat abilities. Although Jade is a skilled spearman, he truly shines as a Fonist, casting spells with little effort involved.
Mental: Jade is highly intelligent, often referred to as a genius. He can often deduce what's going on, sometimes before you've even thought of it. He is cunning, and can come up with ingenius plans, even when the odds are stacked against him. (EX: On the Tartarus, when the God-Generals attacked, Largo used a fon-slot seal was used on Jade, severely weakening him. Despite having the odds seemingly stacked against him, Jade concocted a plan on the fly which involved blinding Largo as Anise fled with Ion, Tear then paralyzing Largo with her hymns, and Jade delivering a 'finishing blow.')
Emotional: Despite his behavior, Jade is the rational one of the group, and rarely loses his cool when things get bad. On the surface, it seems as if Jade doesn't really have emotions, but he mostly keeps them under control so they do not hinder his success.
Weaknesses:
Physical: Jade, despite all his skill and accomplishments, is quite lazy. He dislikes having too much work to do. (This ranges from refusing to accept a promotion in the military despite being able to easily make Lieutenant General by now to making excuses about being old and frail to get out of physical labor.)
Mental: Because of Jade's intelligence, it places him at a 'higher level' above others, causing him great difficulty in socializing with others properly, despite the amount of respect he receives.
Emotional: Jade is, essentially, emotionally retarded. Although he's gotten better from when he was a child, he has difficulty truly feeling empathy for others. He can't avoid telling someone the truth of a situation, no matter how harsh it may be. He seems to come off as if he doesn't really feel... anything.
